Indications, Benefits & Uses
Trikatu Churna is an Ayurvedic medication containing a mixture of three Indian spices. This medicine is in a powder form and is widely used in the Ayurvedic treatments for treating the symptoms of indigestion.
Trikatu Churna is stimulative in nature, especially for the digestive system, the liver, spleen, and the pancreas. It stimulates these organs to produce digestive enzymes thus ensuring optimum functioning of these organs. The different conditions that can be treated using this medicine are as follows:
Digestion is one of the most important functions of the body, which usually suffers due to a high level of stress and tumultuous emotions. Unhealthy eating habits, eating on the run, lack of self-care and exercise, and an imbalanced diet also affect the digestion and contribute to the development of digestive disorders. It regulates the functions of the liver, pancreas, and gall bladder. It also reduces the development of toxins due to the undigested food thus protecting the digestive tract from any form of damage.
Trikatu is a wonderful medication for getting the digestive functions back on track. It plays an instrumental role in stimulating the digestive fire needed for an optimal breakdown and assimilation of food. It also promotes a proper bile flow, fat metabolism, and healthy detoxification. The gentle heating action of this medication primes the digestive tract to digest food, and remove waste products efficiently.
Trikatu acts as a natural digestive. It ensures rapid absorption of nutrients from the intestine. It also possesses diverse biological activities, which help enhance the bioavailability of essential nutrients. Bioavailability refers to the extent to which the nutrients are used by the body.
It enhances metabolism and reduces the production of abnormal mucus from the digestive tract. This action is beneficial in the management of chronic digestive diseases like irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn’s disease. It stimulates the liver and increases the secretion of bile, which is vital for the fat digestion and absorption. It also soothes and calms the intestines, thus relieving abdominal bloating and belching.
Taken 15 minutes before a meal, this medication can be highly beneficial to ease the digestion and prevent bloating, flatulence and other symptoms of indigestion especially when eating out, or after a heavy meal.
Trikatu is a potent Ayurvedic formula used for treating gastric troubles like gastritis, hyperacidity, and peptic ulcers. Regular intake of this medicine helps in increasing the appetite. Gingerol and shogaol, the active constituents of a herb called Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) present in this medicine, suppress gastric contractions, which helps in reducing pain and discomfort in the stomach. This herb also suppresses gastric secretions and reduces vomiting occurring due to peptic ulcers and gastritis. It also provides relief from heartburn and sour eructations caused by the increased secretion of acid in the stomach. It also improves the digestion of fatty foods and speeds up the breakdown of proteins.
Trikatu can be used to reduce the levels of harmful LDL cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. It also increases the levels of cardioprotective HDL cholesterol. It destroys the accumulated waste and toxins in the body and cleanses the blood naturally. It also reduces the risk of complications caused by a high level of cholesterol such as heart attack, stroke, and peripheral vascular diseases. It is advisable to combine the use of this medicine with a low-fat diet for faster and better results.
Trikatu Churna can be used during the acute phase of the common cold to relieve the symptoms like running nose, headache, and nose block. It has antiviral properties. When taken with honey, it can reduce running nose, sneezing, and the other symptoms caused by common cold.
Trikatu Churna can be used by the patients with asthma to relieve chest congestion caused due to phlegm. The herbs present in Trikatu Churna produce a bronchodilatory action, which helps to prevent constriction of the air passages thus preventing an attack of asthma.
Most people experience body aches with a feeling of heaviness and discomfort more commonly in the winter months. Trikatu Churna can help in relieving these complaints by increasing warmth in the body. It reduces body aches, fatigue, heaviness, and restlessness when used on a regular basis.
Trikatu Churna can be used by the obese individuals to lose weight in a safe and effective manner. Though Trikatu Churna is not an appetite suppressant, it can reduce the weight of a person by acting on the root cause of obesity.
Its action in reducing the body fat can be attributed to its ability to boost the metabolic rate. It improves the metabolic transformation of fats and prevents their accumulation in the body. Trikatu Churna also increases the rate at which the accumulated fats are burnt or used up by the body by rectifying the fat metabolism and improving the metabolic rate.
However, it should be noted that patients may experience an increase in their appetite for a few days when they start using Trikatu Churna. It is important to avoid eating unhealthy foods in such situations to curb the craving. They should eat low glycemic foods such as fresh fruits and raw vegetables several times a day to reduce the food cravings. After a few days, they can notice a difference in their weight along with a sense of lightness in the body.
Increase the bioavailability of nutrients
Piperine, one of the constituents of the herbs used in Trikatu Churna, is a bio-enhancer phytochemical, which means it promotes the bioavailability of the nutrients. It also enhances the effectiveness of medicines including Ayurvedic and the modern drugs by increasing their bioavailability. It increases the absorption of the drugs into the blood stream thus ensuring the maximum possible amount of the medication consumed by the patient is available to the body to overcome the illness for which it is administered. It is particularly beneficial when used with the medicines, which are known to be poorly absorbed in the bloodstream. It also potentiates the action of mineral-based medicines.
