Shivlingi Beej (Bryonia Laciniosa)

Bryonia, commonly called Shivlingi Beej, is used for the treatment of the disorders affecting the female reproductive system. It is used for the natural treatment of female infertility. It acts as a uterine tonic and increases the chances of conception in women. Hence, it is considered a fertility-enhancing herb. It is also used to increase the masculine features of men. It can be used to prevent the effects of aging and maintain youthfulness during older age. Bryonia is also indicated for the management of high cholesterol, obesity, and diabetes.


Bryonia has anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties. Hence, it is commonly used in the treatment of acute and chronic fevers. The usual recommended dose of Bryonia is 1 to 3 grams. It should not be taken in a dose higher than 6 grams per day. It should be taken in 2 equally divided doses. Patients are advised to take Bryonia 3 hours after meals.

The doses should be taken with milk or warm water, especially when used for weight loss. The duration of treatment with this herb depends on the severity of the conditions. Patients should take it for at least 3 months. They may continue using it for 6 months if the results are not satisfactory.
