Rasnadi Guggulu (Rasna Guggul)

Rasnadi Guggulu, or Rasna Guggul, is an ayurvedic medication known for its digestive and carminative properties. It is used for treating diseases caused due to the imbalance in the Vata Dosha. It can be used for treating tinnitus or ringing sensation in the ears, migraine, and headache.

The use of this medicine can also help to relieve the symptoms caused due to sinuses and fistula. The digestive properties of this medicine help to relieve flatulence, bloating, and abdominal pain. It is beneficial in the management of rheumatoid arthritis, gout, and osteoarthritis.

Rasnadi Guggulu acts by boosting the functions of the digestive tract. It also acts as a carminative agent and prevents bloating and flatulence. It supports the elimination of toxins from the body by producing a detoxifying effect. Additionally, it works like an antispasmodic agent and reduces abdominal pain.

Rasnadi Guggulu is also a natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent. These properties of Rasnadi Guggulu coupled with its anti-arthritic effect help in reducing the symptoms of bone disorders.


Rasnadi Guggulu is prepared from Shuddha Guggulu. It is added to a mortar along with a small quantity of Ghee. The ingredients are grounded to form a fine powder. Later, the fine powders of the other ingredients of Rasnadi Guggulu are added to this mixture. Tablets of 500 milligrams each are prepared from it.

The usual recommended dose of Rasnadi Guggulu for adults is 500 milligrams to 2 grams. It can be given to children in a dose of 250 milligrams or 1 gram. It should be taken in 2 to 3 equally divided doses. This medicine should be taken after breakfast and dinner or after breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The maximum recommended dose of Rasnadi Guggulu is 6 grams per day to be taken in divided doses.


Rasnadi Guggulu is used in the treatment of tinnitus, headache, and migraine. It can also help to reduce the joint pains caused due to arthritis, gout, and rheumatism. It is also recommended for the patients suffering from digestive troubles.


Rasnadi Guggulu is found to be beneficial for the patients experiencing ringing or buzzing sounds in the ears due to a condition called tinnitus. It corrects the underlying factors responsible for it such as disequilibrium in the fluid in the ears. It also helps in preventing giddiness and nausea associated with tinnitus. Rasnadi Guggulu is commonly used for obtaining relief from headaches and migraine. A migraine is characterized by a severe headache, which is often accompanied or preceded by some warning signs such as blind spots, tingling in the hands and legs, flashes of light, vomiting, and a heightened sensitivity to sound and light.

The severe pain caused due to a migraine often lasts for a few hours to even days. Rasnadi Guggulu can provide relief from the symptoms of a migraine. It reduces the frequency and the intensity of the attacks of this disease.

It also works by producing an anti-inflammatory action. The herbal ingredients in this herb help to prevent the inflammatory changes that are responsible for causing these attacks. (3)

Rasnadi Guggulu can be used to treat joint diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, gout, and osteoarthritis. The anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of this medication can help to reduce pain in the joints, swelling, restricted movements, and redness caused due to these diseases. (4)

Digestive problems

Rasnadi Guggulu is a commonly used remedy for treating gastrointestinal disturbances such as bloating and constipation. It produces a mild carminative and laxative action and eases flatulence and the passage of stools. It also acts as an anti-spasmodic agent and reduces cramps and spasms in the abdomen. (5)


Rasnadi Guggulu is safe when used as per the indications in an appropriate dosage. There are no known side effects of this medicine.

The safety of Rasnadi Guggulu is not established for pregnant women. Hence, pregnant women should use this medicine only after consulting an ayurvedic physician.
