Foods to Avoid in Summer

Which Foods should we avoid during summers?

The heat increases during summers. Heat relates to Pitta Dosha. So, summer is a season of Pitta Dosha. The diet during summer should be pitta pacifying. In summers, the excess consumption of foods with pungent, sour and salty taste is not good. In addition, hot, oily, fried and fast food should also be avoided.

The following foods are not suitable during summers:


  • Sour fruits
  • Citrus fruits – Limit consumption of or otherwise take with sugar


  • Raw onions
  • Hot peppers
  • Tomatoes (in excess)

  • Mustard Seed
  • Yerba mate

Milk Products

  • Salted milk products
  • Sour buttermilk
  • Sour cream
  • Salted butter

  • Millet
  • Rye
  • Others

Alcohol-containing products

  • Caffeine
  • Fermented foods
  • Yeast Bread
