Dhathryarishtam is a popular Ayurvedic medicine used in the management of diseases affecting the liver and heart. It is a liquid medication that contains about 5 to 10% of self-generated alcohol, which along with water, serves as a media for the active constituents in the herbs. This medication is also known as Amalakarishtam. The powerful medicinal herbs used in the preparation of this medicine provide a range of health benefits that protect the vital organs of the body like the liver and the heart and prevent several diseases. These herbs also help to prevent the progress of the existing diseases and allow a person to recover faster while providing relief from the symptoms.
The herbal ingredients present in Dhathryarishtam are mentioned below:
- Amalaki (Amla)
- Pippali (Long Pepper)
- Sharkara or Jaggery
This medicine is in the form of fermented decoction. For the preparation of Dhathryarishtam, juice is extracted from 1000 Amalaki fruits. Then, honey is added to the juice. The amount of honey should be 1/8th of the amount of the Amalaki juice. Then, 96 grams of Pippali or Long Pepper and 2.4 kg of Jaggery or Sharkara is added to the juice.
